This nationally recognised unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings, including educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a CPR emergency.
This unit of competency may contribute towards approved CPR training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2012).
Including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority
As per the training package, there are no formal prerequisites required for you to enrol in HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, however a sound understanding of the English language is a must. For this reason, applicants will be required to complete at the time of enrolment a short assessment to ascertain their language, literacy and numeracy level. At enrolment, each individual must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) to study any qualification or short course in Australia. To create a USI please visit www.usi.gov.au
